You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting as often as I used to these past few weeks. Part of the reason is my day job taking up quite a bit more of my time these days (the nerve!). But another major reason is that I am participating in this year’s 30 Day Challenge – and it has been awesome! So awesome, in fact, that I want to tell all of you about it while there is still time to participate.
The 30 Day Challenge is a step-by-step training program that teaches you how to create a sustainable, online business. The goal is to make your first $1 online by the end of the challenge. It is taught by Ed Dale – a very well respected online marketer – and is completely free. This is no get-rich-quick scheme – you’ll quickly find that (surprise!) it takes work to make a living – online or offline. But for those of you who dream of the perks an online business can get you – working for yourself, mobility, etc. – this course is a great way to start down that path.
Every year, Ed updates the Challenge to reflect the realities of the day. In the first Challenge back in 2005, the easiest way to get online traffic to your business was to purchase it (e.g. via Google AdWords). As the Internet evolved and more businesses became online savvy, the Challenge switched to generating organic traffic through search engine optimization (SEO). This year – the Challenge has evolved once again. Due to recent updates by Google in how they rank websites – with your social network and word of mouth playing an even bigger role in what you see online – the focus of this year’s Challenge is how to become a Top 20 influencer in your chosen market. Gone are the days of buying traffic or optimizing your site to cater to Google’s web crawlers – instead (and probably for the better), it is about creating truly compelling content that people want to find and Google will inevitably have to surface.
Again – I highly recommend checking out the Challenge before it disappears for the year (the content will come down on December 1st). Even if you don’t intend to start an online business – it is a great course for those of you who love to learn about everything and anything. In fact, it was Ed’s Challenge last year that introduced me to the technique of freewriting. It was also Ed’s video – leading up to this year’s Challenge – about the death of SEO and the importance of having a voice in the market that finally inspired me to create this blog.
Good luck making your first $1 online to those of you who give it a try!Go to “The 30 Day Challenge” website
