Going on Hiatus

Going on Hiatus

It has been a while since my last post. Rather than let this blog end unceremoniously, I wanted to officially declare I am going on hiatus. The truth is, I am preparing for a big life event that will leave little time for much else, at least in the beginning. That’s right – Baby #2! I prefer not to have large gaps between posts, so I think the best thing to do is pause for the moment.

In the year I have been blogging thus far, I have definitely learned a lot. First – I learned how hard it is to actually create and maintain a blog. It was a bigger time commitment than I imagined, especially given the demands of a full-time job and a young son. But second – and most importantly – I learned how rewarding it can be to see people respond and engage with what you have to say.

I hope that the ideas I have shared with you to date have been at best inspirational, and at the very least entertaining. I sincerely hope to return to this blog – or some version of it – in the future. In the meantime, I wish you happy times ahead in your pursuit of innovation and creative endeavors.

And always remember – isolation is the killer of good ideas!

Lost your keys? The entire world can help.

I think Tile’s new product idea is really clever. Basically – you attach a Tile to your keys, drop one in your purse, stick one to your iPad, etc. Then fire up the companion app, and keep track of all your property. The app alerts you when a tile is in range, and the tile beeps as you get closer to help you locate the item.

But here’s the coolest part. Read More

Oh no – another blog?

Oh no – another blog?

There are plenty of blogs out there – why another one? I have certainly attempted to write blogs before, only to have them languish in blog hell (a single, lonely “Coming Soon!” post that I shamefully take down months later).

So – why another blog? Well, I’ve always wanted to start my own business. Or at least I think I want to start my own business. I suspect the real reason behind my push to be my own boss is to have a creative outlet. So for years (and I mean years and years) I came up with brilliant idea after brilliant idea, hoping each one would be “The Big Idea” that spurred me to action and led me to the inevitable end (me sipping margaritas on a private island somewhere in the Carribean). Problem was – I would get really excited when I came up with the next big thing, but Read More
